Railway: the Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh line
The Matrouh line has three stations in the district: Bahig, Borg El Arab and El Gharbaniyat. Borg El Arab Airport station is in Amreya, and New Borg El Arab station is in the new city.

Bahig station
A station on the Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh line, between Borg El Arab Airport and Borg El Arab. Train 657 stopped here at 17:12 (March 2024 timetable). OSM node 6102322694 lies in HDX shiakha بهيج, 1074 m from the district edge.

Borg El Arab station
The old-town station on the Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh line. The 2026 summer Cairo to Matrouh trains listed a «برج العرب» stop; those extra trains stopped on 12 and 21 September 2026. OSM node 318014918 lies in HDX shiakha مدينة برج العرب, 984 m from the district edge.

El Gharbaniyat station
The last station in Alexandria Governorate on the Matrouh line, before El Hammam. Train 657 stopped here at 17:00 (March 2024 timetable). Not found by name on the map: OSM’s «جبل الحمام» station (node 318015125) lies in the El Gharbaniyat polygon, 2.3 km from the district edge, and may be the same station.

Taxis and service vehicles

Service-vehicle fares, March 2026
On 10 Mar 2026 Governor Eng. Ayman Attia approved new fares after a fuel price rise: an average 14%–17% increase for service microbuses, while public transport, collective transport and Raml-tram replacement fares were unchanged. Fares are posted at stands and drivers must display fare and route.
