The head of the Alexandria water company followed the move of a 12-inch, 550-metre main on Hassan Allam Road at the entrance to old Borg El Arab, and of two 1,000 mm mains, to clear the way for the high-speed train project.
The works also replaced 1,100 metres of old main east of the Bahig level crossing.
